Ira Elshansky was born in Moscow in 1989. At the age of 8 she began to study sculpture with a talented teacher Marat Babin. In 2010 she moved to Israel, where she entered the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, then for a while the modeling was abandoned. There, studying animation, students intensively mastered all kinds of animation techniques, and, in particular, stop-motion. At one moment the line reached the clay. Taking it in hand, Ira, with complete surprise for herself, felt how pliable the plastic material is, how easy and pleasant it is to work with it. So several coursework, and graduate work in Bezalel was performed in the technique of clay stop-motion.
"Whiteland" is, on the one hand, a conceptual animation that raises questions about the relationship of a person with the world and the perception of oneself, on the other hand for the author this is a very personal project based on one's own experience of rethinking life after the beginning of intensive practice of meditation.
